SouthRoads will begin watermain upgrades near the State Highway 1 Clyde Street and Tweed Street roundabout in Invercargill. The work, scheduled to start on Thursday, 21 November, will continue for approximately three weeks.

While traffic travelling north and south on SH1 Clyde Street will remain unaffected, those using the roundabout to travel east or west will need to follow detours. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for potential delays.

The lane closures are essential for ensuring the safety of both workers and the public. Drivers are reminded to observe speed limits and exercise caution while passing through the construction zone.

Upcoming roadworks by Invercargill City Council.

Clyde Street/Tweed Street roundabout closure:
Tweed Street roadworks Due to this week’s rain delays, the milling and membrane sealing of Tweed Street, between Conon and Nith Streets, will now take place tonight (Wednesday).

Contractors are upgrading the watermains near the Clyde St/Tweed St roundabout beginning tomorrow (Thursday). To complete this work, the inside northbound and southbound lanes of the roundabout will be temporarily closed. Detour routes will be in place.

Traffic travelling north/south on SH1 Clyde Steet will continue as normal.Traffic wanting to use the roundabout to travel east or west will need to detour. Work is expected to be finished in three weeks.

Council understand the impact of these works and are doing everything to keep disruption to a minimum. Please follow the temporary traffic management and take extra care.
