Sewer and wastewater work is ramping up across several Invercargill streets this month, with lane closures and parking restrictions affecting a wide stretch of the city.

On Deveron Street, crews start the next stage of foul sewer replacement on Monday July 6. The work runs between Spey and Yarrow streets and is expected to take three to four weeks, weather permitting. During the first phase, the eastbound lane at the Spey Street/Deveron Street intersection will be closed, along with the northbound lane on Deveron Street.

Exmouth Street is also under investigation this week until July 10. Crews are locating underground services at the intersections with George, Herbert, Chelmsford and Layard streets ahead of future works. Temporary traffic management and parking restrictions apply. Property access may be cut briefly as work moves along the street.

The bigger, longer-running job is on Coronation Street, York Street and Tramway Road, where wastewater upgrades are expected to continue until December. The Moulson Street/Coronation Street intersection closes from June 30 to July 14. Closures are also in place at the Moulson Street/Brown Street and Moulson Street/Dyson Street intersections. Residents on Coronation Street can still reach their properties but will need to use Tramway Road to enter and exit.

On Tweed Street, pipe renewal work between Miller Street and Nelson Street has reduced both eastbound and westbound lanes to one. That work is ongoing.
