It’s been a popular event in people’s calendars for the past two years and its back again.

Sarah Dowie’s M.A.D Day Out will be held this year on Sunday April 8.
Dowie, who has been hosting the event since its inception in 2016, said she was thrilled to be doing it again.

“For the third year running it’s a pleasure to bring this free event to families in Southland to celebrate the awesome recreational opportunities we have in our own backyard.

The event, held at Sandy Point, is a great opportunity for families to experience one of Invercargill’s best natural reserves.

It’s free and there are plenty of ways to enjoy the beauty and natural surrounds, whether that’s through negotiating the obstacle course or tackling the mud pit.

This year, there will also be a scavenger hunt of sorts on offer for people that want to experience the course a bit differently and a mini mud pit for under 5’s.

A sausage sizzle and coffee will be available, but people are encouraged to bring their own picnics and enjoy the natural surrounds.
The event will run from noon until 3pm.
