Invercargill Police have wrapped up their enquiries in to an incident at a local school last week which saw a pupil sustain a serious head injury.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Stu Harvey says the 10 year old boy was injured  with an electric standard at Sacred Heart School just before school started last Friday morning.The injured was boy was initially taken to Southland Hospital and later transferred to Dunedin Hospital where he underwent surgery and placed in an induced coma.The boy is now recovering in Dunedin Hospital where his condition is improving slowly.Stu Harvey says enquiries have established that a 9 year old boy, also a Sacred Heart pupil picked up the fence standard while walking to school that morning.He says the pair were playing together before school when the incident occurred.Stu Harvey says no further action will be taken in respect of this incident.Police and Victim Support staff continue to assist families involved along with school staff and pupils.
