Latest stats from Invercargill City Council show that builders are unlikely to go short of work anytime soon.

The building consent stats for June show that there is plenty of activity particularly with new commercial developments and new residential homes.

There were 11 consents issued for new commercial or industrial buildings / additions totalling $2,329.600.

14 consents were issued for new homes, semi detached / additions tallying up to just short of $4,130.000.

The values of each category were well ahead of the same time last year.

Looks like there will be a couple of big re roofing jobs coming up, 2 consents were issued for re-roofing and re-cladding to the value of $800k. In June last year there was also 2 consents issued but the value was just $6,000.

The total number of consents issued for June was $8,133,283. compared to $2,560,851. for June last year.
