New World is dumping its Clubcard for a new rewards scheme that works across three supermarket chains.

Club+ launches June 15, combining New World, PAK'nSAVE and Four Square into a single customer platform for the first time. The move reflects how most people already shop — bouncing between different stores for deals.

"We know more than three quarters of customers regularly shop at more than one supermarket," said Brendon Lawry, Acting Chief Customer Officer at Foodstuffs New Zealand. "Club+ is designed to reflect those changing shopping habits by giving people a single rewards and savings program they can use across Foodstuffs brands, so the value and benefits travel with them wherever they choose to shop."

The rewards vary by chain. New World shoppers earn Club+ Dollars at 0.75% of spending, plus fuel discounts and bonus games. Four Square offers Club+ Dollars at 0.38% and fuel discounts. PAK'nSAVE sticks to fuel discounts only, but lets customers spend Club+ Dollars earned elsewhere.

One Club+ Dollar equals $1 and can be used as full or partial payment on groceries. Members can also convert earnings to Airpoints — every 5 Club+ Dollars becomes 5 Airpoints.

The scheme goes digital-first through apps, though plastic cards remain available. Existing Clubcard members will transfer their New World Dollar balances and shopping history automatically.

"We're excited to bring Club+ to New Zealanders," Lawry said. "The program is easy to join, and we'd encourage customers to join early so they're ready to start scanning and saving from launch day on June 15."

New World Clubcard gets phased out over the coming months.
