In this episode of Markets with Madison, she goes behind the scenes with Aaron Green, CEO of iconic New Zealand boat maker Stabicraft. From its rugged roots in the 1980s to its rapid expansion across North America, learn how this Southland-based company is redefining safe, adventure-ready boating.
Kiwi boatbuilder Stabicraft is setting a new course for global expansion while staying firmly anchored to its roots. In a new interview on Markets with Madison, CEO Aaron Green shared how the aluminum boat manufacturer is leveraging its heritage of rugged design and hand-built craftsmanship to make waves in North America.
Founded nearly 40 years ago, Stabicraft pioneered the world’s first chambered aluminum boat, a design that continues to distinguish the brand for its unmatched safety and stability. Despite global demand, the company still builds all its boats by hand in Invercargill, New Zealand.
“We battle-test every new model in the Roaring Forties. If it can handle that, it can handle anything,” said Green, emphasising the company's commitment to durability and user confidence.
Backed by a recent investment from KiwiSaver fund Simplicity, the company is accelerating its U.S. expansion, where its boats are turning heads — literally — at gas stations and boat ramps.
With modular designs, a growing team of “adventure engineers,” and the founder Paul Adams now innovating under the amphibious-focused Stabby X banner, Stabicraft is proving that New Zealand-made boats have global staying power.
