Drowning at Wakapatu Beach, Kawakaputa Bay

A 68 year-old-man has drowned at Wakapatu Beach, Kawakaputa Bay, Southland this evening at about 5.30pm.

The man was snorkeling at the time and located on the surface about 100 metres out from shore.

The death is being referred to the Coroner.
