Organisers of Saturday evening’s Night Market in Bluff are rapt with the support the event received and excited for the future potential of the concept.

Large numbers turned out to browse and buy from the many craft stalls, enjoy the fire poi and fire staff performances as well as entertainment from the Bluff School Kapa Haka Group, ukelele band Don’t Fret plus Nolan and the Collective. Meanwhile the variety of cuisine available from the many food carts saw a brisk trade throughout the evening.

“It was a very, very, good night,” said Frazer Murdoch, Chairman of Bluff Promotions and one of the key drivers of the monthly Thieves Alley Markets in the town. “The huge number of people was unexpected, many more than we anticipated. They were very well behaved and the bands were brilliant. One of our food vendors, Pretzelation, rounded up a big variety of food stalls after the Invercargill Matariki celebrations were cancelled and our Bluff Promotions Secretary Megan Taylor called on Bluff to support us with our tagline ‘by the community for the community.’ Bluffy’s indeed did support the night while many others came from further afield. We will now build up towards next year with an even bigger and better event.” Murdoch also thanked those who helped make the night a success, Bottle-O Bluff and Four Square Bluff for their contributions towards the event, plus the stallholders, entertainers, performers, food vendors and volunteers and the public for attending.
