BENNY, Ruth Ellen, (nee Hannabus, formerly Carter):
Passed peacefully in the loving care of the Wyndham Rest Home staff on Sunday, 8th December 2024, in her 104th year. Beloved wife of the late Ralph (Ashburton). Dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Beverly Carter (Whangarei), Jeff Carter (Te Anau), and Stephen and the late Anne Carter (Invercargill). Much loved grandmother of Amanda McFarlane, and the late Harley Greenbrook (Whangarei); Monique Carter (London), Chantal McLean (Burwood Station); and great-grandmother of Emma; Zara, and Jack. Dearly loved sister and sister-in-law of Sally and the late John Hannabus. Much loved Aunty of Tracy Hannabus (Bristol, UK), Lynn Cherry (Brisbane). Loved stepmum of Rowena Chambers. Special thank you to Sally for her unwavering support, and to the wonderful Wyndham Rest Home staff (Mum’s “Angels”) who went above and beyond. A private family service will be held at a later date. DOWLING, Michael Joseph (Mike):
Unexpectedly, on Saturday, 7 December, 2024, after a superb win at his “second home”, Hokonui Bowling Club, aged 78 years. Much loved husband of Noleen for 44 years, adored “Mike” of “his girls”, Rhonda, and Sandy, precious Grandie of Chloe, Breidi, and Eli, and Great-Grandie of Ari, Indie, Saoirse, and Noah.

A Requiem Mass to celebrate Mike’s life will be held in Church of The Blessed Sacrament, Ardwick Street, Gore, on Friday, 13 December, at 1:30pm, followed by private cremation. Family warmly invite you to Mike’s “second home”, 9 Lyne Street, Gore, for light refreshments following the service. HAGGERTY, Elizabeth Mary:
Passed away peacefully surrounded with the love of her family near and far, on the 9th December 2024, in Cromwell. (formerly of Invercargill and Riverton). Aged 91 years. Beloved wife of Ron*. Dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Garth and Robyn, Joanne*, Vic and Megan, Andrea and Andrew, Alastair and Trish. Loved and adored Nana and Great Nana. Loved sister and sister-in-law of Duncan* and Noelene McGregor, Elta* and Arnold* McIntyre, and Don and Dot McGregor. Loved and cherished Aunt to all her nieces and nephews. TIPPEN, Patricia Catherine (Pat):
Passed away peacefully on 7 December 2024, aged 86 years. Pat was loved by her late husband, Roger. Dearly loved by her family; Christine and Nigel Edwards, Thomas, William and Lexie, and Katherine; Matt and Rosina, Olivia, and Sam: Damian; Stephen and Juliet, Lillian, Jack, and Charlie. Daughter of Bill* and Zita* Hogan. A wonderful sister and sister-in-law. Loved by her nieces, nephews, and extended family. A special friend to many, Pat, will be sadly missed.
Rest in Peace
A requiem mass to celebrate Pat’s life will be held in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 449 North Road, Waikiwi, Invercargill on Saturday 14 December at 1.00pm. The service will conclude with the interment at the Eastern Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 728 North Road, R D 6, Lorneville, Invercargill on Friday, 13 December at 7.00pm.
