BROUGHTON, (nee Eru), Lucy Nora (Georgie):
Passed suddenly on Monday 5 August 2024 aged 75 years at Dunedin Hospital. Mum (Georgie) is the loved daughter of the late Rahurahu and Miriama Eru. The loved wife of the late John Broughton (J.B). A much loved Mother and Mother in-law of Morton, Mary and Stephen, the late Jonathon Richard, Eddie and Candis, Johnny & Miriata, Georgina and Bryce. A greatly adored Grandmother of Wainui and Kering, Waitohu, Johnny, Ty-Lee and Baylee, Eru and Destiny, Ru, Ngapaea, and Great Grandmother of Jordan-James, Riah and Terenivaeu. Mum will be held at her home at 18b Miller Street, Invercargill until her service which will be held in the Avenal Park Chapel, 75 Fox Street, Invercargill on Saturday 10 August at 10am. Following the service our Mum will be taken to the Eastern Cemetery, Invercargill where she will be laid to rest with her late Husband John Broughton (J.B). King, Heather Ellen and Richard John:
Tragically taken on Saturday 3rd August 2024. Dearly loved and sadly missed mother and father and mother-in-law and father-in-law of Lynda and Nigel James (Wellington), Shirley King (Riverton), Barbara King (Riverton), the late Aaron and Raewyn King (Waikaka). Dearly loved and sadly missed nana and grandad of Rebecca, Tanya, Kennan, Michael, Samantha, Alexandra, Daniel and Sam, and great nana and grandad to their 11 great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate Heather and Richard’s lives will be held in the Gore Town and Country Club, 2 Bury Street, Gore on Tuesday 13th August 2024 at 11 am, with light refreshments after the service. Family will then travel to the Waikaka Cemetery at approximately 3 pm for the Interment, and you are welcome to join us should you wish to. Loved and respected sister and brother-in-law of John and Lynley Hamilton (Alberttown), Lynette Clark (Dunedin) and the late Russell, Diane Parker and Fraser Ellis (Dunedin) and the late Des Parker. A much loved Aunt and Uncle of their nieces and nephews.

McCULLOCH, John Stanley:
6.08.1948 – 03.08.2024. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic death of John at Riverton. Much loved husband of Anne. Loved father and father in law of Jethro and Millie (Dunedin) and Amber,  Grandad of Eleanor and Hugo. Loved eldest son of Stan* and Lila* McCulloch and brother and brother-in-law of Fay and Malcolm Adin, Anne and Keith Affleck, Bruce, Jill Scott and Peter*. Loved brother-in-law of the Payne family and loved uncle to his many nieces and nephews. “He was a good bugger!”
A private cremation is to be held. A celebration of John’s life will be held at ILT Stadium Southland, Invercargill, at 11 am, on Monday 19 August. Our sincere thanks to the local Coast Guard and the Land Search and Rescue team for their quick response and for bringing John back to us, to the local Riverton community for helping in the search for John, and to the local Police for their compassion and support at this time. OWEN, Beverley Joan (Bev):
Peacefully in the care of Calvary Rest Home on Sunday, 4th August 2024, aged 96 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Albert. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Warren, Adrian and Karen, and Chris and Linda. Adored Nan of James and Tina, Lara, Michael, Matthew, Andrew and Kate, Lisa and Sam, Jordan, Simon and Zar and her Great Grandchildren. A service to celebrate Bev’s life will be held in the Avenal Park Chapel, 75 Fox Street, Invercargill on Friday, 9 th August at 2:00pm. With Our Deepest Gratitude
The families of Richard and Heather King, John McCulloch, Russell Peters and Daniel Bastion would like to acknowledge and give thanks to the Police, Coastguard Riverton, Coastguard Bluff, Hato Hone St John, Fire and Emergency New Zealand and Search and Rescue volunteers who were all involved in the rescue efforts on Saturday. Although lives were lost, your efforts ensured all of our loved ones were returned to us and for that we are truly grateful. The intense effort, care, kindness and empathy shown amidst tragedy was so greatly appreciated. The rapid response and dedication of the Coastguard saved Russell and Daniel’s lives and we count our blessings as we come to terms with our loss. Thank you also to the wonderful Riverton and wider Community for your outpouring of love and support.
