Fifty-seven Southland and Otago Highland Dancers who were bored and missing their lessons and competitions got together at home and created a unique toilet paper dance! Because, as they say, lockdown is “better when we’re dancing”!
The video was put together by Chris Watson from PRO Focus – Photography by Chris Watson, who also has two of his daughters in the footage.
Having seen something similar overseas, the dancers decided to give the toilet paper dance a try in Southland. However, as word got out, nearly 60 dancers from Southland, Dunedin, and Queenstown submitted footage.
The requirements were that the footage had to show some Southland scenes, but that soon turned into lower South Island, and full dance uniforms.
Chris said the video had so far received around 2,500 views and that all the dancers had a “great time filming it”.
