Glenn MacIntosh of Invercargill won the Men’s 12 kilometre run and teenager Fiona Gray of Winton, the Ladies 12 kilometre run, in the Up & Over Bluff Hill Grunt in the port town on Sunday. MacIntosh led home Mark Gray of Gore and Aidan Michaels of Invercargill in the Men’s event while Gray headed off Invercargill runners Mo O’Connell and Vanessa Bradley.
The Men’s 12 kilometre walk was won by Alex Kidd of Invercargill from Guy Michaels and Tom Hale while Maree Small of Woodlands won the Ladies 12 kilometre walk from Lynette Child and Dorothy Horrell who tied for the silver medal while Jenni Wood of Invercargill won the bronze.
Michael Small of Woodlands won the 6 kilometre Social Walk for Men and Amber Ward OF Bluff the Ladies 6 kilometre Social Walk from Ann Robbie.
Numerous spot prizes and novelty prizes were given out to competitors with Real Journeys return family trips to Stewart Island, Anchorage Cafe vouchers and apparel from Allan White Sports among the prizes given away.
The event, organised by Bluff Promotions and supported by the New Zealand Community Trust, was hit by high winds and sleety showers contributing to a much lower than normal entry of around just 50 competitors.
