Invercargill’s ‘Great Little Train Show’ was a huge success over Labour weekend, with just as many people attending as 2019.

The Southland Society of Model Engineers had to downscale their event this year, because there was no certainty it could proceed after Covid, with the focus on the outdoor activities only.

But co-ordinator Wendy Metcalfe said they were totally humbled and overwhelmed by the public’s support.

“In the two days we did over 2300 train rides, and saw lots of smiling faces young and old.”

For the past 35 years the train club has been running the ‘Great Little Train Show,’ – which is its biggest fundraiser of the year.
