Firefighters are battling a large blaze that broke out at a storage facility in Invercargill on Thursday. The fire was reported to the Fire and Emergency Southern team by an automated system just after 4.30pm. On arriving at the scene, the firefighters found the facility “well alight.
” Plumes of smoke could be seen rising from the building, and traffic diversions were put in place around the Freight Haulage yard. The building has been safely evacuated, and there have been no reports of any injuries so far. More crews from surrounding areas have been called in to assist with the efforts to tackle the blaze.
