Invercargill City Council, along with Fulton Hogan contractors, is tomorrow (Friday) continuing preparation works for future water infrastructure improvements on Leven Street. Unfortunately, this resulted in an unexpected road closure that surprised motorists this morning. The closure, affecting the stretch from Gala Street to Leet Street, was due to inadequate communication from both the council and the contractor.

There was no initial notification on the council’s Facebook page, and it was What’s On Invers that informed the public about the traffic disruption this morning (Thursday).

For tomorrow council posted an update for tomorrow on their fb page the road segment between Spey Street and the Crescent Roundabout will be closed from 7 AM to 5 PM.

Traffic will be managed with temporary signs to guide motorists. The council has expressed gratitude for the public’s patience and understanding as these essential inspections and preparations proceed to enhance the city’s water infrastructure.
