The Great Race, the Lexus Melbourne Cup is on again later today (Tues)

24 of the world's best gallopers are set to start in the race with just three of those, Sharp 'N' Smart, Positivity and Trust In You being Kiwi trained but at long odds.

It wasn't so long ago that the Melbourne Cup was a contest between the best of Australian and New Zealand horses, now it's a true international contest with 16 of the 24 starters coming from the northern hemisphere.

At time of writing this Vauban from France and Buckeroo from the UK are joint favourites, both paying $7 for the win. Onesmoothoperator paying $8.50. The rest of the field at double or triple figure odds.

Weather - should be a cracker with any rain likely either first thing this morning or this evening. Expected high 25degrees
