The CBD Extravaganza is this Friday 27 March 5-8pm in the CBD. Here is a list of some of the activity happening around the CBD:

- Heritage Treasure Hunt – collect your entry from various venues around the CBD on the night
- Horse & Cart – free rides on Don Street
- Rock n Roll – performing at the Courtville Place Arcade
- Silent Movie – The Daughter of Invercargill at The Embassy, screening at 5.30; 6.15; & 7pm
- South City Community Choir – 6-7pm Esk St end of SIT Arcade
- Bagpipers – At the Civic & E Hayes

- Taxidermy – with Lloyd Esler
- Knitting – Yarn bombing Esk St coming as part of the Southland Festival of the Arts

- Vintage & Classic cars – see them on The Crescent and around the CBD
- Hat making – visit Fizzy to see a milliner at work
- Piano Accordions – 6.30-7.30pm corner Esk and Kelvin St
- Parts of the Civic Theatre Open
- Tour of E Hayes – starting at 6.30pm
- Heritage Photos – with Corrina Jane Photography in the Old Nu Dax shop on Dee street (next to Barluca), costumes available to dress in for your own heritage photo
- Irish Society – the Heritage of Ireland from 5.30 at Waxy O’Sheas.
- Southern Farmers Market – in the SIT Arcade
- Invercargill Library Heritage Hunt
- Woodworkers Guild – at their workshop in Lower Esk St
- See the Queen on the balcony of the Grand Hotel
- Photo mural – upload your CBD photos with #CBDExtravaganza by 6.30pm and your photos can be added to the mural
- SIT Arts – Then – Now Encapsulating Visual History in celebration of Southland Heritage Month, Transition Gallery 5.30-7.30pm – bring your own ‘Then & Now’ image comparisons for the time capsule.
- Children’s art displayed in the old Outdoor World window
- Invercargill Environment Centre window display and activity next door to the library
- 1929 Pianola at Hubbers Emporium
- Record your Friday night shopping stories
- Add your family tree to the chalk art
- Dress up in your favourite era clothing – be in to win by visiting the Bank Art Gallery
- Guess which Southland town streetscape competition
- Town Crier
- Finale event at 8pm in Wachner Place including announcement of competition winners and spot prizes for Heritage Treasure Hunt.

This map gives you an idea of where activity will be happening in the CBD on Friday between 5-8pm. Starting at the Civic on Tay St to the Crescent, then down Dee St to E Hayes & Sons. The one way sections of Esk and Don St and Kelvin St will all have activity happening on them. For more information check out the feature in the Southland Express this Thursday and a hand out will be available around the CBD on Friday, along with the Heritage Treasure Hunt.
