The Big One – Cup Day in Christchurch

Today is the big day for trotting and harness racing in NZ with the running of the IRT NZ Trotting Cup at Christchurch’s  Addington Raceway. (IRT stands for International Racehorse Transport.)

IRT have instrumental in bringing some top Aussie trotters over for the race which has a stake of $600,000

As for what horse will cross the line first, the most talk is Copy That is favourite with Akuta, Rock n Roll Doo and Spankem also in the mix.

As for a roughie, Kango seems to be the pick. But it looks like it’s anyone’s race with most in the field  being capable of being there or there abouts.

For the first time in some years there is expected to be a bumper crowd on course and the weather forecast is for a fine day. It’ll be a cracker!
