Attention all road transport participants and the entire Southland community! We’re excited to announce that the much-anticipated Labour Weekend Truck Parade is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 22nd of October, kicking off at a punctual 1:00 PM. This event celebrates the pride and effort everyone puts into their rigs, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together. - On-the-Spot Entry: Want to join on the day? No problem! Head over to the white container at Fox Street on Sunday, 22nd October, to fill out your entry form. We’re making it super easy to be a part of the fun!
- Judging Participation: There’s a modest entry fee of $10 for those who wish to have their trucks judged—a small price for the chance to win big! Please arrive between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM to get sorted.
- Parade-Only Participation: If you’re here just for the thrill of the parade, it’s absolutely free! Just ensure you’re all set before 12:30 PM. The parade begins at 1:00 PM sharp, and you won’t want to miss a single moment.
📨 Entry Forms and Approvals:
- Getting Your Entry Form: Need to prepare beforehand? Simply request an entry form by emailing 📧 [email protected]. We’ll also have forms ready for you on-site on Sunday morning.
- Log Book Exception: Good news! Waka Kotahi has approved a short-term variation of hours for the event. Copies of this exception will be available at the Fox Street container on the morning of the parade. You can also receive this via email upon request.
🎉 Post-Parade Festivities:
- Prize Giving Ceremony: What’s competition without rewards? Join us for the prize-giving event at Newfield Tavern in the iconic Big Willy’s function room at 5:00 PM. Celebrate the day’s highlights, and who knows, perhaps even take home a prize!
- Let’s Celebrate: After the formalities, stay for a light supper, and shake the stress away with live band performances. It’s a time for laughter, stories, and camaraderie.
🚦 Parade Route:
- Start: The fun begins at the corner of Bill Richardson Drive/Fox Street.
- The Journey: We’ll be rolling down Bond Street, taking a left onto Tweed Street, and continue the momentum all the way down.The Grand Finish: The procession concludes at the intersection of Tweed/Regent Street. Be ready for cheers, honks, and waves!
