Southland’s iconic Home Show is back again this August, and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the event they are cutting the entry fee.

Organiser George Owen has been involved since its inception and was looking forward to another successful two-day event at ILT Stadium Southland on August 2 and 3.

“It’s always just such a fantastic feeling to bring it all together each year,” he said.

Exhibitor space was always sold out well in advance and this year they have added a range of food vendors into the mix, to keep everyone nourished while browsing the trade stands.

Anybody planning on building or renovating are encouraged to bring along all of their fresh ideas to talk through with the experts on the day.

With everything on offer from carpet to blinds, to elaborate coffee machines and spa pools,  George can proudly say he was the only Home Show in the country that has never missed a year.

They even held the event on election day in 2020, knowing the Government wouldn’t close the country on that day.

George saw an opening for a Home Show in Southland back in 1996, after being involved in every other home show around the country for 20 years.  This included being one of the first exhibitors in Waikato in 1983.

He said adding food trucks this year would add another dimension, while people browsed all the latest trends in the home improvement industry.

The show starts at 10am both days and runs until 5pm.  Admission is free.
