Lewis Thomson is set to be the first male gymnast in Southland to represent New Zealand at an international level. Lewis, who has been involved in gymnastics for close to a decade, was chosen to represent NZ after a successful and competitive season in New Zealand. He will be competing in the Liukin Invitational in Dallas, Texas, as well as the Houston Invitational.

The 2020 WOGA Classic and Valeri Liukin Invitational will bring together thousands of competitors from 16 countries, while the Houston Invitational will see more than 3,500, including some of the United States’ best.

Lewis has been training hard and is honoured to be representing both Southland and New Zealand in what will be a fierce competition.

“After seeing what could be done at higher levels, I was inspired to train even harder and had a goal to be Southland’s first competitor at a senior level,” he said.

Lewis is now raising funds to get to the United States and make our country proud.
