Tickets are now on sale for the 2020 Southland Export Trust Grant HSBC Gala Awards Dinner in November.
Replacing the biennial Export Recognition Awards, the gala awards offers the exporting industry a chance to acknowledge the values of the industry.
Southland Chamber of Commerce marketing and events manager Michelle McSoriely said in past years the grant has assisted many local export businesses towards developing their products and chosen international markets.
“The evening also provides an opportunity to recognise individuals who have made a significant contribution within the Southland export sector.”
What makes this year even more special is guest Peter Beck from Rocket Lab will be attending.
Peter is the inaugural Graham Dick Memorial Trophy recipient.
He will be presented the new trophy by a member of the Dick family, who have gifted it for a Southlander that has been recognised in the export industry.
Peter grew up with the late Graham Dick’s son, so it will be a special moment for both families at the awards dinner.
Michelle said they have received some good applications for the export grant, valued at $15,000.
Sponsors of the evening are HSBC New Zealand, South Port NZ, 360 Logistics NZ, Alliance Group limited, Sanford Limited, QFS, Air New Zealand, South Fish, McIntyre Dick and proudly supported by whatsoninvers.nz
The theme of the Trust Grant Award was ‘Taking Southland to the World,’ and its purpose was to assist businesses involved in export to aspire towards a sustainable environment, which supports the employment of a skilled workforce through the involvement of training, promotion, and education up-skilling, as well as research and development.
