Invercargill’s popular Southern Pro Wrestling are set for a huge return after a 15 month hiatus due to COVID-19!

Before COVID-19 swept the world, SPW, also known as ‘’Wrestling on the Edge of the World’’ were featured on TVNZ and had regular sold out events including record breaking numbers at ILT Stadium Southland that put New Zealand professional wrestling on a world stage, and they are all set for a greatly anticipated return!

Formed in 2015, the local professional wrestling organisation has trained homegrown Invercargill stars and pitted them against well known superstars from the WWE and Japan. They also have their own streaming app called SPW On Demand where fans from around the world can login and check out what’s happening in New Zealand.

‘We were fortunate to build a very loyal fan base in Invercargill that loved our form of sports entertainment, we are a hybrid of live theatre and breath-taking stunts with entertaining characters and storylines. A night the whole family can enjoy’ says Marc Perry, co-founder of SPW.

SPW are set to burst onto the scene again at their regular venue, the Corinthian Centre, inside the Invercargill Working Men’s Club. The date is set for Friday 11th November and is aptly named ‘’Homecoming’’.

The show will feature stars from across the country and will include a Main Event for the SPW New Zealand Championship!

Both men competing for the championship are from Invercargill, Will Power defends against a determined and aggressive opponent in K9, which will be sure to create an electric atmosphere as this match has been brewing for 15 long months!

The event will also be filmed for their SPW On Demand streaming service.
