Anybody old enough to remember the 1980s have been reminiscing about life back in the good old days – when milk bars filled with ‘spacies’ were among the places to hang out.
Who remembers this 1984 television campaign ‘Don’t leave town ‘till you’ve seen the country’ ? – which has now become more relevant than ever.
With our tourism market strictly domestic only for the foreseeable future, getting to know our own country before we go visiting other ones has now become the focus again.
The 1984 campaign produced by the New Zealand Tourist and Publicity Department, features a mixture of famous places like Larnach Castle and activities such as jet boating on the Shotover River, helicopter flights and horse riding.
