Heavy snow across southern New Zealand has now eased and all Warnings and Watches are lifted.

Gale southwesterlies continued to affect coastal Southland and Otago and a Watch remains in force, however, winds are expected to ease early Tuesday morning.
People are advised to stay up to date with the latest forecast.

Strong Wind Watch

Area: Coastal areas of Southland and Otago
Valid: 8 hours from 8:00pm Monday to 4:00am Tuesday
Forecast: Southwesterlies may approach severe gale in exposed places.

Warnings no longer in force

Heavy Snow Watch lifted for : Fiordland, from George Sound northwards : The threat of heavy snow has now passed and the Watch is lifted.

Heavy Snow Watch lifted for : Southern parts of Central Otago and the Southern Lakes: The threat of heavy snow has now passed and the Watch is lifted.

Strong Wind Watch lifted for : Auckland: The threat of severe gale southwesterlies has now passed and the Watch is lifted.

An update for severe weather will be issued by 10:00am Tuesday 6 Aug 2019.
