SH1 Allanton Closed After Fatal Crash

One person has died following a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 1 near Allanton. tate Highway1/Main South Road between Allanton and East Taieri reopened about 1.30am Sturday morning following a fatal crash yesterday afternoon. The road reopened after police completed their onsite investigation at the intersection with Law Road, and the site was fully cleared.

State Highway 1 is closed between the Riccarton Road and State Highway 86 intersections due to the crash at the Law Road intersection.

The crash was reported just before 5:40pm. One person died at the scene, while two others sustained minor injuries.

Emergency services are working at the site on SH1/Main South Road at the Law Road intersection, between Allanton and East Taieri.

Southbound traffic should turn right from SH1 onto Riccarton Road, left on to State Highway 87/Outram-Mosgiel Road, left on to Hoylake Street, then continue along Bell Street, then continue along Allanton Road, left on to State Highway 86/Centre Road, then right back onto SH1. The reverse applies for northbound traffic.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays. Please follow the detour and allow extra travel time.
