Police can now confirm the identity of the male that was killed as a result of the crash that occurred near Mataura on the 19th of March 2016.
The deceased male driver of the vehicle was Finlay Ian McRAE aged 17 from Mataura.
Firefighters managed to extract the 17-year-old and he was taken to Dunedin Hospital with a serious head injury, but later died.
Four passengers in the vehicle escaped with minor injuries.
Update: Sunday 20th March
A teenager who suffered a serious head injury after a car rolled on a South Island road yesterday morning has died of his injuries.
The teen died as a result of his injuries, police said this afternoon.
No further details would be released today, police said.

At about 12:20am on Saturday morning the 19th of March, Gore Emergency services were called to a serious crash on River road between Gore and Mataura.
A Toyota Surf vehicle lost control and rolled over, trapping the male driver in the vehicle until fire service were able to extracated him. The driver is now in hospital with a serious head injury
Four passengers in the vehicle have escaped with minor injuries
A road diversion is in place until the serious crash scene Investigation is completed.
