Emergency services responded to a two-vehicle crash on Main Street, Mataura.
The incident occurred near the intersection with Cardigan Bay Road at around 3:30am.
Traffic management is in place.
Detour route: For northbound road users, turn left onto Glendhu Road, right onto Townsley Road, left onto McBride Road, Right onto Charlton Siding Road back on to State Highway 1. Reverse for southbound road users.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
Serious Crash Unit has attended and more information will be released when available.
