There have been reports by other media and comments on social media, that a patient with COVID-19 has been admitted to the Critical Care Unit at Southland Hospital. whatsoninvers.nz asked Southern DHB for comment.
The response from the Southland Hospital EOC Controller, Jo McLeod is as follows:
While Southern DHB does not comment on individual patients for reasons of privacy, we can confirm that there are no COVID-19 positive patients in CCU at Southland Hospital and there were no admissions to CCU with COVID-19 positive patients over the weekend.
There is one COVID-19 positive patient in hospital in Southern, as confirmed on the Ministry of Health website. That person is being cared for at Southland Hospital. We will not be providing any further information for privacy reasons.
