Scarlett Polley is loving the move into Wrens with her new interior design business.
Having worked in soft furnishings in H&J Smiths up until it closed, she seized the opportunity to go out on her own, and created Scarlet Rose Interiors in August 2023.
Initially working from home as a mobile showroom, Scarlett’s relishing the new connections made through sharing a showroom with the Wrens staff.
“It’s really nice to be able to meet my clients instore as well, for the initial consultation.”
She then goes out and visits her clients in their home, to gain more of an understanding of what furnishings and designs they are interested in.
Available on Saturdays for consults in home, and working right through the week from Wrens, Scarlett loves dressing people’s windows with beautiful fabrics.
Her eye for style may have been passed down to her from mother who was a fashion designer.
“I’ve always been fascinated with interiors and I enjoy working with the variety of textiles I have to show.”
Studying Interior Design at the Southern Institute of Technology, Scarlett joined H&J Smith as a showroom consultant in February 2020.
She always knew one day she’d start her own business, and in some ways the closure of the department store was bittersweet.
Trending right now is traditional drapery, where people are moving away from the minimalist blinds back to curtains, or mixing it up and having both, she said.
“Blinds are very practical and clean. There is also a trend of layering different window treatments like having a blind fitted in the window paired with a set of drapes or voiles.”
Dean and the Wrens team are excited to welcome Scarlett to Wrens Invercargill and are excited to be working alongside another great business in the store, located at 65 Yarrow Street (next to Brownies). Off street parking.
