Faded Media’s Hard Park Takeover Festival at Teretonga Park this weekend is more than just fast, loud cars, and promises to entertain everyone.

Organised by Faded Media & Events, the event first started back in October 2021 at the Otepuni location, it then moved to the Ascot Park raceway in April 2022 and now this year it moves out to Teretonga.

Beginning on Saturday, the event sees the return of the HPTO Show and Shine, but this time there will also be Drift demonstrations.

Organiser Troyden Findlay said it was all about bringing that car culture back into Southland, and there was a lot of other entertainment on the day for families to enjoy as well.

“It’s not just a car show, and I’m looking forward to just seeing everybody out and about.”

An extra added bonus this year will be the Freestyle FMX motorcycle riders from Auckland, who will be performing tricks on Saturday.

Sunday is track day which is a first for this event, and with full access to the race track, drivers can get out and cruise with their mates.

Troyden said he’s never watched the weather forecast more than he has in the last week, but all of the organising has been done, and the schedules have gone out.

Troyden said what he loved the most about the HPTO events is the smell of fuel and burning rubber, reminding him of past car shows.

“It’s everything, the oil burning, the hot wat

er, the fuel, the tyres and the asphalt.”

The HPTO Festival was more than just a car show with family entertainment – it was also a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald family room at Southland Hospital. A 50:50 raffle and proceeds from the sale of passenger wrist bands on the gate would go towards this charity.
