The Ascot Park Raceway will be filled with cars and motorbikes of many makes and models this Saturday, for the second Hardpark Takeover.
Organised by Faded Media & Events and building on their first car show last October, a massive 184 vehicles have registered leading up to the big day.
Event company owner Troyden Findlay said Southern Dragways will be doing a start ups throughout the day one of which being a 10m-long Dragster being brought in from Queenstown!
Dragsters have a huge following in the States and aren’t often seen here in New Zealand. The Dragways will also have a number of other drag vehicles on display.
Another highlight would be the Tesla Model X P100D Tesla coming from Christchurch. Troyden said there were also a lot more old school cars coming this year which was great – from the pre-1980s.
The raceway is twice as big as last year’s Otepuni site, which attracted around 700 people – a successful event under the Level 2 restrictions they had.
Troyden said the feedback from last year’s show was that people just loved all of the diversity of the show and the variety of cars.
A donation box would be held onsite, and proceeds would be going towards the South Island Ronald McDonald House in Christchurch.
The recent move to Orange level also means the event can offer so much more, with a family area included in the event this year, featuring food vendors and two bouncy castles.
whatsoninvers.nz founder Mike Sanford said it was great to be involved with an event of this size, and one of the few things that is actually happening this year.
“Troyden has done a tremendous job bringing it all together.”
