The severe weather which is scheduled to hit Southland, Fiordland and Otago later this morning has PowerNet ready for any possible electricity interruptions on the networks they manage.
A warning issued by the Southland Met Service yesterday suggests Northwest winds reaching 160km/h are expected throughout the Southern region.
PowerNet Chief Executive, Jason Franklin said the company is prepared for the onset of windy weather which is scheduled to start around 11am today.
“We have all our resources prepared ready for any electricity disruptions that might occur over the next 24 hours,” Mr Franklin said.
