Who would’ve thought that potholes on our roads have connected people worldwide?

Our clever whatsoninvers.nz founder Mike Sanford found this appropriate and somewhat humorous meme to highlight the poor state of our roads, while taking a drive on Sunday back in March.

He posted it on the What’s On Southland Facebook page and tagged Southland District Council.   The post went viral across New Zealand then Australia to UK & Europe, USA by that we mean the biggest numbers we’ve ever had to date, since starting the business.

Last check it had jumped to a total of 4,726,062 people saw this meme and 333,506 engagement and 36K reacted to it with a like, smiley emoji etc.

Mike thought it was impressive when it got to just one million, but it kept on growing…. then it got to two million and so he decided to turn the comments off to slow it down.   But no, it carried on. Through Australia, into Europe and the USA and on it continued.

Amazing the power of media these days. Overall there were 36+k reactions and 50k shares.
