A Ploughman’s Lunch with retired Southern Steel Captain Wendy Frew is a feature of the Teal Pants Campaign at the Winton Harness Racing Club meeting at Central Southland Raceway in Winton on Sunday (16 February).
The Robin Dundee Club is organizing the lunch in support of WomenCan – Team Teal – which is part of a day of ten harness races which comes during the nationwide harness racing Teal Pants Campaign which raises money for the fight against Ovarian Cancer.
The lunch will feature a selection of meats, pickles, cheeses, nuts, breads and light salads. Southland’s very own netball great, Wendy, will take the floor from around 2pm talking about her career as an international netballer. Tickets are just $10 and a cash bar will operate – wear teal and you could win a prize. Tickets are extremely limited and available from:
- Caroline Carter 0274 518 784 or 03 206 6339

The Teal Pants branding refers to the colour of driving pants worn by lady drivers during the promotion. In the south the Teal Pants campaign sees $500 donated every time a female driver wins a race between 1 February and 7 March 2020 with Harness Racing NZ donating $200, the club at who’s meeting the victory takes place giving $100, Woodlands Stud $100 and Southern Harness Racing $100.
Ten harness races are scheduled on the day with the first scheduled for 12.07pm.
A draw of losing tickets after race 6 will net a couple of punters a betting voucher each, with the hope that it improves their luck.
Admission to the course will be free!
