Two Southland Crashes Claim Two Lives

Two separate crashes in Southland have each claimed a life, police have confirmed.

A person has died in hospital following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Grove Bush and Rakahoka Hedgehope Roads on August 10. The crash, involving a truck and a car, was reported at about 5.20pm. A second person suffered moderate injuries and has since recovered.

A second fatality has also been confirmed from a crash on the Riverton-Wallacetown Highway on July 21. That crash was also reported around 5.20pm. One person was critically injured and taken to hospital, where they later died. A second person was seriously injured.

Enquiries into the circumstances of both crashes are ongoing.
