A Police co-ordinated water and air search for a missing male skydiver on Lake Wakatipu was suspended at about 4.40pm.
A shoreline search involving LandSAR and the Coastguard will continue until about 6.30pm tonight.
Emergency services are looking for the skydiver who was in a tandem jump.
The other person, also a man, has been recovered and was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
All searching will be suspended overnight and Police will make an assessment on the situation from 9am tomorrow.
UPDATE #1:
A Police co-ordinated response to a water rescue on Lake Wakatipu is ongoing.
Emergency services were contacted at 1.42pm with a report that two skydivers had landed in the lake, near Jack’s Point.
We have now ascertained that this was a tandem jump involving two males.
One person has been recovered from the water and taken to hospital with minor injuries.
A search is under way for the other person.
This involves the Coastguard, the Harbourmaster, water taxis and helicopters.
WorkSafe has also been informed.
