Midmost Marvin is now a reality after a successful book launch at Young Reflections last week.
New author Callan Goodall said the book launch went really well with a good crowd of family and friends to support the occasion.
“It was a good chance to thank a few people and to sell a few copies as well.
“The rest is now one part promotion and two parts luck.”
Midmost Marvin tells the tale of a typical 10-year-old kid who thinks he is just average, but actually has better than average skateboard skills.
After years of teaching kids – and also a father of five children himself, Callan hoped that many young ones could relate to and enjoy the story.
“We’re all a bit average but also all good at something.”
For him it was obviously relating to children, and now he’d found a new talent that had finally been recognised after years of trying to break into the publishing world.
Callan teamed up with illustrator Shaun Yeo in what they both hoped would be the beginning of a series of Marvin books.
Shaun said when he first read the manuscript he instantly picked up the ‘energy’ of the character, and easily found a way to bring him to life on the page.
Bateman Books has published Midmost Marvin and is now available in all good bookstores including Young Reflections, 13 Tay Street or their website
