Southlanders are being given a chance to hear how National will deal with the cost-of-living crisis, when the party’s deputy leader and finance spokesperson Nicola Willis visits Invercargill this Friday (Aug 4), Invercargill MP Penny Simmonds says.
“This election is all about the economy and who is best able to manage it. This is a chance for people to understand National’s plan and how it can benefit them.
“I encourage people to come along to my Cost-of-Living Public meeting with Nicola Willis, on Friday at 3pm, at the Invercargill Workingmen’s Club.
“We know that Labour’s addiction to spending and economic mismanagement are driving the cost-of-living crisis – costs have outstripped wages and people are struggling to pay their mortgages and rents, buy their groceries, fuel their cars and make ends meet.
“Southlanders are going backwards, but National has a plan to get things back on track, including stopping wasteful spending, tax relief, dealing with inflation, cutting red tape and driving technology.
“Nicola Willis has been instrumental in helping build National’s plan to get our country back on track. Her visit to Invercargill is a top-class opportunity for people to understand the changes that need to be made and hear first-hand how this new direction can benefit them.”
Willis will also host a Southland Business Chamber luncheon, and visit and talk with Invercargill retailers, during her trip to the city, Simmonds said.
