Names Of The Motorcyclists Who Died In Southland Crash Released

Police can now release the names of the two men who died in a motorcycle crash on Sunday November 18.

Police extend their sympathies to the families.

They were Timothy James Meers, 50, of Otautau, and Russell Allan Blackford, 41, of Athol.

The deaths have been referred to the Coroner.

Two people have died in a motorcycle crash in Southland on Saturday afternoon

The crash occurred near the intersection of Fairfax Isla Bank Road and Riverton Otautau Road at 12.45pm.

A third person has suffered critical injuries.

Initial reports suggested four people had been involved in the crash, and at least two motorcycles.

We can now confirm three motorcycles were involved, and three riders Police said.

No other vehicles were involved.
