Hi folks, just a quick splurge to keep y’all abreast of eating out options in Invers and around the south, Mal.
This week my good wife and I were lucky enough to put our nose bags on at a couple of fine eateries here in Invers.
Last Saturday my good wife and I had lunch at Banh Mi Vietnamese Street Foods restaurant in Invercargill Central Mall opposite Esk Eats food court. We’ve dined here a few times before and have not been disappointed.
We did arrive as the lunch time rush was about to wind up so it was pretty busy and just a table for two was hard to find.
As for the food my wife ordered a crispy chicken bun, no probs there. I initially ordered the fried Calamari. Sadly the nice waitress informed me that they had sold out of Calimari. Option 2, the slow cooked 5 spice pork shoulder. Absolutely delicious, very filling but put a serviette on as the juicey sauces can have a tendency to run everywhere if you don’t keep a hold of the buns, but that’s part of the fun of it isn’t it?
Tip, probably best go for a half bun, if you can get through that then enjoy a dessert or coffee.
The food has it’s own distinctive texture, flavours and fragrances that are usually not found elsewhere. Banh Mi is licensed so enjoy a nice tipple with your meal.
Did you know Bánh Mì (pronounced BUN-mee) is the Vietnamese term for “bread”, but it also refers to a special kind of sandwich.
Follow the Banh Mi Facebook page Open for brunch, dinner and in between 11am – 9pm Monday – Sunday.
It’s aways delicious and I give it a solid 4.5 out of 5.
Next up: Have you been to Euna Restaurant yet?
This is billed as modern European, not just another place selling Blue Cod, Lamb Shanks and steaks, not that there’s anything wrong with that, but Euna is a cut above.
We were there on a Wednesday night and they had quite a few in, pleasing to see.
I had the Charred Cauliflower Steak. Yep, no meat for me on this occasion. Absolutely yummy and certainly didn’t feel weighed down like one does after a big meat meal. But meat dishes are certainly available.
The operators know their onions. They’ve seen a gap in the market and gone for it so 10 out of 10 for rolling their sleeves up and getting started. They certainly deserve our support.
Probably safe to say that Euna is a special occasion destination but any occasion can be a special occasion can’t it?? So dress up and splash some $$$’s around. I hope you’ll find it favourable.
Euna Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday to Saturday and Sunday lunch 11am – 3pm and situated at 16B Don St next to Devil Burger. Book a table soon!
It’s been open a few weeks now and I give it a solid 4.5 out of 5.
