Get your gladwrags on this Saturday night and come along to a fun charity auction with a twist.
The CanInspire Charitable Trust has been supporting people with illness, trauma and loss since 2010, and is raising money for its CanBead Southland workshops and tutor fees.
The workshops are a great distraction, fun and support from others. Volunteers help break up donated jewellery, sew and assemble the kits and assist at the workshops.
Southland CanBead co-ordinator Rachael Allan said they had received 12 designer handbags from businesses all over New Zealand for the auction.
Each one was filled with surprise contents, ranging from toiletries to restaurant vouchers and other goodies, and the auction starts at 6:30pm.
Tomorrow (Friday May 27) was the last day for tickets to the event, which will be hosted by auctioneer Simon Swale. Get Tickets here Tickets can be purchased at Industry, or email [email protected]
The organisation is hoping to raise just over $3000 from the event, following successful ‘handbags and gladwrags’ auctions in Ashburton and Hawkes Bay.
At just $20 a ticket, the price includes a supper of platter food.
Rachael said CanInspire is best described as a charity that supports other charities, and the breadth of people receiving the services was huge.
It covered all aspects of trauma from those suffering cancer and strokes, right through to rape and abuse victims.
