The term three holidays are set to be full of adventure as the ILT Kidzone Festival plans to give Southland kids an ‘Around the world’ experience.
The festival, in its 14th season, will be held at James Hargest College Senior Campus from 11 -16, July with tickets on sale Monday, 14 May.
ILT Kidzone Festival director and Venture Southland major events coordinator, Claire Blau said the theme for this year’s festival is ‘Around the world’.
The theme will give attendees the opportunity to share their culture with the community and learn about diversity and multiculturalism.
“The James Hargest Senior College campus will be transformed into the seven continents of the world and see children collect stamps in their festival passports,” she said.
Blau said that families attending the festival can expect to discover new activities including sumo wrestling and flax weaving.

“With more than 150 activities on offer, cultural performances to see and things to create and take home – it’s a wonderful day out,” she said.
Famous in Southland and increasingly beyond, the festival provides affordable school holiday adventures for families.
Ticket prices have increased this year to $17.00 per person per day, with under two-year olds free.
Blau said the slight increase in price is to ensure the festival can retain the high quality activities, performers and equipment that come from all over New Zealand and abroad.
“With materials, equipment and performances all included in the price of your ticket, the festival offers unrivalled value for money,” Blau said.
Tickets for the festival will be on sale from Monday, 14 May and available from the ILT Kidzone Festival website, at the Invercargill i-SITE, Southland District Council area offices, Gore Visitor Centre and at the gate on the day – if not sold out prior.
Volunteer registrations also open Monday, 14 May with people able to register either online at the ILT Kidzone Festival website or by picking up a volunteer pack from the Venture Southland office in Spey Street.
Blau said the festival relies on more than 150 volunteers per day so encouraged people to register for their chance to be part of Southland’s favourite kids festival.
