Christine Bruce set about gathering bits and pieces for another Invers woman Dot Muir to take as part of her work with the Rwenzori Special Needs Foundation.
Ms Bruce says she contacted many of her clients friends contacts and soon enough word spread and donations of articles like prescription glasses, hearing aids, clothing even cash arrived on her doorstep. She says some of the cash was used to buy new underwear from The Warehouse.
She says donations came from as far away as Christchurch.
Dot Muir and 4 other Southland helpers left a chilly southern winter on Saturday on their journey to Uganda.
