Invercargill man Matt Fisken has announced that he is standing for ACT in the Christchurch Central electorate in this year’s General Election.
The 19 year old former Verdon College student is currently studying for his BA majoring in political science and international relations and minoring in strategic communication.

my primary goal is to advocate for policies that prioritize action on Crime, Cost of Living and Co-Governance. I firmly believe in the principles of personal freedom, individual responsibility, and limited government interference.”Fisken says he first joined the ACT Party in 2019 in opposition to rushed Firearms legislation which unfairly impacted law-abiding citizens, and made our communities less safe.He also has a crack at Grant Robertson’s stewardship of the finance portfolio saying “Government spending is up 61 per cent over five years, but no area of public service has improved, Education spending is up 38 per cent, but kids are attending school less often and are learning less, healthcare spending is up 68 per cent, but the system is widely reported to be in a state of collapse.”Matt Fisken says “we need a government that puts the well being of Kiwi’s first.”Matt Fisken is no stranger to the the parliamentary chamber having been a youth MP for the ACT Party.
