Invercargill wakes up on Wednesday 30 September with a bit of cloud and a brisk westerly, but the day improves quickly. Expect a top of 13°C this afternoon after a chilly start of about 7°C around 8am.
Morning
Cloud hangs around early, with a very light spot of drizzle possible in the small hours before dawn. Winds are the main story at the start of the day: a westerly with gusts of 35 to 45 km/h overnight, easing to around 25 to 30 km/h by the time you head out at 8am and swinging around to the northwest. It will feel colder than the thermometer says, closer to 4 or 5°C. Sunrise is at 7:21am.
Afternoon
Skies clear from mid-morning and the middle of the day looks like the best of it: plenty of sun, temperatures climbing from 10°C at 10am to 12 or 13°C through the afternoon, and only a light breeze with the odd gust near 30 km/h.
