Three separate roading and infrastructure projects are disrupting traffic across Invercargill this week, with more lane closures started Monday June 22.
The most immediate change is on Bond Street, where the southbound lane will close from Monday for about a week. The closure is tied to final connection work at the Stead Street roundabout. Trucks will be operating in the area throughout.
On Tweed Street, pipe renewal work is already underway between Miller Street and Nelson Street. Both directions are squeezed into a single shared lane while the crew works through that section.
A third project gets underway on Deveron Street, where the foul sewer is being replaced between Yarrow Street and Leet Street. That work is expected to run through to the end of July. In the first stage, the eastbound lane at the Yarrow Street intersection and the northbound lane on Deveron Street will be closed. Once that stage wraps up, the closure shifts to the southbound lane on the opposite side.
All three sites are active simultaneously. Drivers moving through the Stead Street, Tweed Street, or Deveron Street corridors should allow extra time and follow traffic management instructions on site.
