The best young speech writers in the region went head to head on Friday night to decide the winner of the annual Venture Southland Interschool Speech Contest.
57 Southland schools were involved in the event which has been a feature on the southern academic calendar since 2003.
During the contest years five to eight students are assessed on their speech making and delivery.
Venture Southland Major Events Coordinator Claire Blau says it’s been a pleasure to gather the very best speakers from all over Southland to celebrate excellence in the speech making process.
“All 22 students that made it through to the final stage of the contest have been place getters in their respective parts of the region.
It was a great final, and Venture Southland is proud to coordinate the competition.”
