Invercargill band The Terrace has received a whopping 3000 streams for its new single ‘Green Garden’ across all of its platforms since it was released only three weeks ago.
Lead singer and rhythm guitarist Ailin Pekar said the response was “absolutely incredible,” and she was also surprised how many people around the city had heard of them.
The Year 12 James Hargest College band, which is also made up of Blake Humphrey (lead guitar), Jackson Jones (bass guitar), and Aiden Hosie on drums, was formed three years ago “to the day” of their release.
They thank their music teacher Emma Jarman for all her support, and who Ailin described as a “guardian angel.”
“The support has been endless and it’s been a great experience to release our first song,” she said.
But there is still more to come for these young performers, with their big album release due out on December 8 – including merchandise such as masks and t-shirts.
Named after the street where they first started practising, ‘The Terrace’ has a range of styles within their music, “we reckon we don’t write enough music in the one style to be able to put a genre to our name, but we like to think we have a song for everyone – just because we write what comes up in the moment with no pre-meditated feel or structure,” Ailin said.
If you like rock, easy listening, blues, a strong ballad or a more modern sound; there’s probably at least a couple of songs for people to enjoy on this album, she said.
‘The Terrace’ will be hoping it has more opportunity to perform some gigs and festivals next year, with Covid-19 cancelling or postponing many of their shows in 2020 and 2021.
